Job Title: Project Cost Controller

  • Location: Barnstaple
  • Reporting to: Commercial Manager
  • Contract Type: Full time, Permanent
  • Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (Dependant on Experience) OTE: £50,000

Job Summary:

As a Commercial Officer, you will manage all aspects of cost control for projects, ensuring compliance with procedures, while identifying risks and opportunities. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients from commercial facilities, where our client provides mechanical and electrical planned and reactive maintenance services.

Main Duties:

  • Develop contract lifecycle cost plans and provide stakeholder support.
  • Produce quotations and manage project costs.
  • Engage with supply chains for procurement and manage invoices.
  • Price billable works, manage variations, and maintain cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Maintain commercial procedures and build effective interdepartmental relationships.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and a methodical approach to work.

Required Skills: Essential:

  • Industry-relevant qualification.
  • Experience in construction or maintenance cost management.
  • Facilities management knowledge and client/supply chain relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

  • Estimating, SoR, and contract variation management.
  • Quantity Surveying, M&E experience, and risk management.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • IACCM/WCC Practitioner, CIPS, CIWFM, RICS Accreditation.
